Tour de France stage finishes are something of an exhilarating celebration. Whether dealing with flat stages, steep or medium slopes, the public will be there crowding the side of the road and cheering like there's no tomorrow. Spectators will as usual be encouraging the cyclists, expressing their admiration and respect for their favourite riders. The accepted delays are calculated after the first rider reaches the stage's finish line; following riders must make the finish line within the established delay or they risk direct elimination. The finish line will feature a ritual podium, as each stage represents a victory. Prizes are awarded at each stage: the stage winner, the yellow jersey for the leader of the total ranking, the polka-dotted jersey for the best hill climber, the green jersey for the leader in terms of points, as well as prozes for the best young athlete (under 25), the rider of the day and the best team.
